New build private house, Lepton, West Yorkshire

January 2012

The rural background and setting informs the design of materials which are synonymous to the region. Reclaimed natural stone is typical of the immediate area and will be appropriate for this site and location. The clean and crisp look of fibre cement roof tiles compliments the design and provides a subtle contrast to the roughness of stone. Timber cladding has been proposed to reflect the agricultural buildings and to provide a connection between rural and urban. The way in which the materials are used give the design a sense of continuity whilst also providing a contemporary twist on the traditional form of use. [nggallery id=4 template=carousel w=348 h=530]
